January Update

jan-28-1Happy New Year!

Our lessons have started again after finishing 2016 with our fantastic Christmas Showcase, there are pictures on our Facebook page if you would like to take a look.

However, before Christmas I unfortunately received some bad news. Due to neighbours complaining to the council (mostly about students parking in the cul-de-sac), the local council have now restricted my teaching hours to Monday-Friday 12-9pm.

I am very thankful to my Saturday students who have kindly changed their regular lesson slot at short notice so that I am not breaching these times.

I have noticed a minority of students are still parking in the cul-de-sac, directly outside of the house, even after I have spoken to everyone about the situation (which has been ongoing since August) and given out numerous letters. I feel I must now state that if this problem continues then the council will stop me teaching lessons. Obviously this is not a situation I would like to be in so please park your car further up the road and around the corner.

I understand that there are some situations which mean it would be more ideal to park outside of the house however this has become a very serious matter and I must add that we are being watched.

I’m sorry for any inconvenience caused and for ending this blog post on a negative vibe, unfortunately there is not much else I can do but keep asking everyone to park away from the house, and I hope that you can continue to support me in a job that I love doing .

November Update

I’m sorry this is a bit late, but I’m not quite sure where November has gone! As Christmas is around the corner we have been very busy…
We get incredibly busy with lessons at this time of year, arranging a lot of lessons outside of our usual opening hours, to make sure everyone has had that last lesson before we break up for Christmas and New Year. This year, our last day of teaching is Thursday 15th December, and we will be back on Tuesday 3rd January 2017.
Tickets are starting to be reserved for our highly popular Christmas Concert which will be taking place on Sunday 18th December 2016. The timings are as follows;
SHOW 1 (Under 16s): 4PM (doors open at 3.30pm)
SHOW 2 (Adults): 7PM (doors open at 6.30pm)
Tickets are available to buy in your lessons, priced at £4.00 for Adults, £2.50 for Concessions (Under 12s and Over 65s) and all Performers and children under the age of 2 are free.
This term’s Rockschool exams have taken place on the 20th November, with further exams happening on the 11th and 12th December. Good luck to all of our students taking their exam!
Important Dates for your Diary:
  • NO LESSONS ON MONDAY 12TH DECEMBER DUE TO PRIOR COMMITMENT
  • LESSONS BREAK UP FOR CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR BREAK ON THURSDAY 15TH DECEMBER
  • SUNDAY 18TH DECEMBER – CHRISTMAS SHOWCASE @ SPRINGFIELD HALL, SANDIACRE, NOTTINGHAM, 4PM & 7PM

October Update

We’re now into October which unfortunately means it is the beginning of flu season! I came down with a nasty cold last week (I’m still getting over the tail end of it now!), so please don’t worry if you don’t feel up to your lesson this week. Just let me know as soon as possible and I can let you know what other days/times we can arrange your lesson to.

On Saturday 15th October 9 of our students took part in the Nottingham regional final of Open Mic UK. Unfortunately no one progressed to the next round however two of our students, Lucy and Emily, won showcase prizes with RocketFuel, and Hugo won a trophy for being the youngest competitor in the whole competition! I am so proud of everyone for taking part, for getting up on the stage and performing in front of approximately 200 people, and for being such good sports. We can now focus on the Rockschool exams in December and to begin preparing for our Christmas Showcase on Sunday 18th December!
We still have lesson slots available in mornings/afternoons, and a handful in the evenings for anyone who is thinking of starting lessons with us. You can book your first lesson via our online booking system here.
Due to exceptional demand for my lessons, in particular the evening, I am now offering ‘Out of Hours’ availability to current students at just a slightly increased price. This is so that I can still accommodate rehearsals for performances, auditions and rearrangements without having to disappoint anyone. If you would like any more information about these lessons (I am afraid I cannot offer ‘Out of Hours’ slots as regular lesson slots) then please ask or contact me.

Welcome to our new website!

As the title says, welcome to our brand new website!
There was a few reasons why the website has completely changed – I wasn’t happy with the website hosting, it’s look etc… but I am so much happier with how it looks now! I think it is a lot easier to find information about my lessons.
In terms of my performing page (Rebecca Rhosyn), I plan to create a separate website solely for that, so keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime, give Rebecca Rhosyn a like on Facebook 🙂
I hope you also like my new photos! My last ones of myself were nearly 4 years old and I still had red hair – new students were coming to their first lesson looking for a redhead!
I would like to say a huge thank you to those students who have written me a testimonial, I don’t usually ask for this sort of thing but it means to world to me to read such lovely things! Fingers crossed it brings some new students in!
I’m open to constructive criticism about the new website – so you think there is something missing then please let me know. But overall, I hope you like it!
